I think by now most of us have heard of the infamous Beauty Blender. “The ultimate sponge applicator.” And while that may be true, there are plenty of good “dupes” out there. I at one point went on a hunt for a good dupe because, frankly, I think it is asinine to pay $19.95 (as listed on the Sephora website) FOR A SPONGE. It cannot contain such revolutionary technology to warrant that price. I’m sorry, but it just cant.
So while I was hunting for a good replacement, I stumbled upon the SOHO beauty brand at Walgreens. In the package, the sponge looked soft enough to actually get the job done, unlike others that, even when very wet, are as hard as a soft ball. And at a mere $6.99, I was fairly optimistic, but at the same time, if it was a dud, it wouldn’t be a huge loss.
I got it home and got it damp, like you’re supposed to. I began to apply my foundation. IT WAS HEAVEN. Soft, supple, and unlike the ULTA one, stippling the foundation didn’t feel like it was going to bruise my face. It was definitely a Hallelujah Chorus moment.
Ever since I found the SOHO beauty sponge, I use nothing else. Every client I use them on ends up having flawless, airbrushed-looking foundation. If I do cream highlighting and contour I use it to blend that out as well. Perfect. Every single time.
